Dayu Electronics: Aluminum-housing clamp-on sensors cannot withstand corrosive gases; clean contact surface before installation
In chemical, petroleum and other industrial sites, equipment corrosion is a major challenge to production safety. Recently, a customer reported a severe working condition to us: "The copper and iron parts on site are suffering severe corrosion. Can Dayu Electronics' clamp-on sensors with aluminum alloy housings withstand this corrosion?" In response to this core issue, Dayu Electronics provides you with an objective and professional answer.

Anti-corrosion limitations of aluminum alloy housings
First, it must be made clear that aluminum alloy is not a universal anti-corrosion material. If the corrosion on site mainly comes from corrosive vapors or gases diffused in the air, then clamp-on sensors with aluminum alloy housings also cannot withstand it over the long term. Under continuous attack by strongly corrosive gases, the aluminum housing surface will be oxidized and corroded, thereby affecting the structural strength and service life of the sensor.

Strategies for dealing with contact surface corrosion
If the corrosion source does not come from the air, but from corrosive liquid or vapor remaining between the sensor and the tank contact surface, the problem can be solved. Before installing the clamp-on sensor, be sure to thoroughly clean the tank outer wall and the sensor mounting surface to ensure no corrosive medium remains. With the contact surface kept clean and dry, couple and fix the sensor; this can effectively avoid local corrosion of the contact surface.

Selection recommendations
Dayu Electronics is always committed to providing customers with the most reliable measurement solutions. Faced with complex corrosive environments, we recommend that you fully evaluate the type and concentration of corrosion on site before selection. If your working condition is a strongly corrosive gas environment, consider sensor solutions made of other anti-corrosion materials; if it is only local contact surface contamination, cleaning before installation is sufficient to ensure stable operation of the equipment.
If you have any questions about evaluating on-site corrosive working conditions or sensor selection, please feel free to contact Dayu Electronics' technical team at any time. We will provide you with professional anti-corrosion solutions and installation guidance.
