2.2 Installation Steps for the Ultrasonic Doppler Flow Meter
1. First, securely install the sensor at the bottom of the river channel.
2. Connect the sensor cable to the RTU wireless transmission box, and tighten the waterproof connector.
3. Secure the wireless transmission antenna.
4. Connect the RTU wireless transmission box to the power box, and tighten the waterproof connector.
III. Product Usage Precautions and Faults
3.1 Product Usage Precautions
1. The waterproof plugs between the sensor, wireless transmission and power controller, and battery box must be firmly inserted and tightened to prevent short circuits or open circuits.
2. Cables between the sensor, wireless transmission and power controller, and battery box should be installed against the wall and fixed with cable clips. If the cables cannot avoid sharp or pointed objects, add protective sheathing.
3. Before opening the cover, disconnect the power supply first.
4. The housing has fastening screws. After opening the housing for operation, first check that the waterproof sealing strip is intact and free of debris or particles adhering to it. If any are present, clean it before closing. Then close the cover and tighten all sealing screws.
5. When opening the cover, do not allow water, dust, etc. to enter the housing. If they do, clean them out. If necessary, apply 704 adhesive to enhance sealing performance.
6. Do not artificially pull or swing the cables, and do not strike the housing.
7 Do not use the connecting cable as a load-bearing line to suspend the transmitter, battery box, or other heavy objects. The cable must be fixed to the riverbank and must not swing.
8. A transparent rubber hose should be placed over the cable for protection.
4. Server Software
4.1 Server Software Functions
The server software can receive water level, temperature, and flow velocity information sent by the on-site river sensor, display and save it on the screen, and calculate the on-site flow from the above data.
For example, if the river width is 30 m, the river is divided into ten equal parts, meaning there are only 9 measurement points across the entire river width, each point spaced 3 m from left to right (max spacing 5 m). The measured depth is input into the backend server software or the on-site host. Since the on-site sensor can measure the water level, this signal is transmitted to the server software or on-site host, and then the cross-sectional area of each equal part can be calculated based on the water level. Based on the flow velocity measured by the sensor in the river, the flow over the entire cross-sectional area can be calculated.

4.2 Description of Server Software Functions
On the right side of the server software is the basic function menu, including start software, close software, parameter settings, exit software, etc.

The top menu is divided into5several product types: Ultrasonic Level Meter, ultrasonic level difference meter, open channel Flow Meter, Doppler velocity meter, radar level meter. Select the corresponding menu according to the actual product on site.

Because the site may include various forms such as channels, streams, and rivers, we select the appropriate option in the software based on the actual situation, enter the parameters, and then calculate the flow.
1. Natural streams and rivers: First select the corresponding site “DTU number”, then select “Cross-section type” as “5. Ten-segment sampling cross-section”, and fill in the water levels for “Sampling point 1” to “Sampling point 9”.
After entering the value for “River width m”, click “Calculate cross-sectional area”, and the “Cross-sectional area calculation ㎡” is calculated as “2.15” square meters in the figure below.
2. The server software automatically converts the measured flow velocity and water level into the channel flow.

3.Basic parameter settings

In the basic parameters, we first select the “DTU number”, and then we can set the “Level upper limit m” and “Level lower limit m” for the corresponding DTU.
The functions of several parameters are as follows:
“Level reference compensation m”: When the on-site sensor measurement is 10 cm higher than the actual water level, we can enter “-0.10” here to correct the error of the on-site sensor measurement.
If the on-site sensor measurement is 30 cm lower than the actual water level, we can enter “0.30” here to correct it.
“Flow compensation coefficient”: The default is 1.00. If the measured flow is greater than the actual flow, for example, the actual flow is 900 cubic meters per hour while the instrument measures 1000 cubic meters per hour,
We can change this value to “0.90”, so that the calculated flow will be close to the actual flow.
