In the desulfurization process of Leyuan Thermal Power, Dayu explosion-proof ultrasonic level gauges are used in multiple locations. During initial commissioning, everything operated normally. However, once desulfurization officially started, two ultrasonic level gauges consistently showed readings that did not match the actual on-site level, and sometimes they could not detect the level at all. Other gauges in different areas worked fine; swapping a working gauge onto the tank where the malfunctioning gauges were located still resulted in abnormal readings.

On-site, when the gypsum slurry tank was opened, hot steam billowed out, and water droplets had condensed on the transducer face of the Dayu explosion-proof ultrasonic level gauge. After wiping off the droplets, the gauge measured correctly.
To address the recurring issue, we recommended the customer:
1. Switch to a physically sealed, corrosion-resistant probe, since it is made of PTFE, and water droplets do not adhere easily to its emitting surface.
2. Change the original 3-meter range to 10 meters; with a larger range, the ultrasonic transmission power increases, which helps shake off condensed water droplets.
