Irrigation District Agricultural Water Pricing Flow Monitoring - Dayu Open Channel Flowmeter + Parshall Flume
Project Background
To gain a comprehensive understanding of water usage in the Taohuajiang Agricultural Irrigation District of Taojiang County, and to provide reliable and effective data on agricultural water resources and consumption for the entire county, flow measurement will be conducted at 20 selected measurement points in the Taohuajiang agricultural production area.

Overall Setup
In this solution, Parshall flumes will be installed at the 20 selected measurement points, and flow in the channels will be measured using a split-type ultrasonic open channel flowmeter paired with the Parshall flume.
A solar power supply system enables all-weather measurement, with data collected by an RTU and transmitted to the backend via a 4G network.

System Design Goals
The Parshall flume open channel flowmeter monitoring system is a fully automatic flow measurement system that integrates flow measurement, solar power supply, RTU data acquisition and wireless transmission, and flow database management.
Managers can view the entire set of water level and flow data through a web-based backend. Central station managers can remotely download the full dataset from the database via the internet backend, then analyze and process it on computers to generate various reports, completely eliminating the traditional manual methods from flow measurement to data processing, and using modern technological means to achieve remote, real-time monitoring and computer-based data organization.

Based on the channel type and flow rate at the site, the ultrasonic open channel flowmeter used in the Parshall flume open channel flowmeter monitoring system is suitable for installation with No. 1 and No. 2 Parshall flumes, respectively.

This system can automatically record water level, instantaneous flow rate, cumulative flow, and other information.
In this solution, the ultrasonic open channel flowmeter employs mature non-contact ultrasonic ranging technology, which requires minimal routine maintenance, no manual on-site supervision, and no calibration, and the measurement data will not drift over time.
