Doppler Flowmeter Applied to Natural River Measurement in Quanzhou, Fujian [Dayu Electronics]
The ultrasonic Doppler flowmeter was used to measure the 24-hour water flow of a natural river in Quanzhou, Fujian. After Dayu's technicians arrived on site, they surveyed the environment, worked with local staff to determine the installation position and fabricate a support bracket, and deployed two Doppler flowmeters for continuous 24-hour flow measurement.
In recent years, with the advancement of social productivity and technological progress, human development of rivers has intensified, and the demand for river resources has increased, seriously threatening the basic functions of rivers and their sustainable use. Many rivers both domestically and internationally have experienced varying degrees of reduced inflow and sediment, channel siltation, and elevated water levels at the same flow rates.

The ultrasonic Doppler flowmeter is suitable for flow measurement in rivers, streams, open channels, and similar applications. It integrates velocity and level sensors for combined measurement. The velocity sensor uses the ultrasonic Doppler principle to measure flow velocity in the channel, while a pressure sensor measures the water level. The instrument is designed to measure relevant parameters in sewage and wastewater discharge, clean streams, drinking water, and even seawater. It measures both forward and reverse flow conditions and can be programmed to calculate flow rate and totalized flow in pipes and open channels.

The ultrasonic Doppler flowmeter is increasingly favored by water resources departments due to its relatively high accuracy, strong stability, cost-effectiveness, and ease of installation. Once installed and commissioned, water authorities can monitor real-time water level and flow changes from their offices, saving both manpower and resources. This eliminates the tedious process of manual on-site data collection and subsequent analysis.
Due to its compact design, absence of moving parts, long service life, simple operation, and maintenance-free nature, the Doppler velocimeter is widely used in urban water supply and drainage networks, black and odorous water bodies, natural rivers, open channels, reservoirs, and other scenarios, as well as in scientific research for flow field analysis and level detection.
