Development Status and Prospects of Domestic Ultrasonic Level Meters
An ultrasonic level meter is a non-contact liquid level measurement instrument. During operation, the probe emits pulse waves that return to the sensor after reaching the liquid surface. The height of the measured level is calculated based on the time difference between the transmission and reception of the sound waves. Because it is non-contact measurement, the measured medium is almost unrestricted. Currently, ultrasonic level meters are widely used for measuring various solid materials and liquid levels.

Currently, there are numerous domestic manufacturers of ultrasonic level meters, and the industry has become relatively mature. In particular, ultrasonic level meter products have developed well. The domestic ultrasonic level meter industry is growing rapidly, but despite the overall favorable situation, some concerns remain. Notably, domestic ultrasonic level meter manufacturers are mainly low-level, small-scale, family-workshop-style enterprises. This poses a significant limitation and bottleneck for the future development of China's ultrasonic level meter industry.
In recent years, the survival of the fittest and innovation in China's ultrasonic level meter industry are signs of healthy development in the instrument sector. Although the overall level of the instrumentation industry has greatly improved, quality remains unstable. For example, leakage, dripping, and seepage issues frequently occur in domestic ultrasonic level meter products. Product saturation is accompanied by continuous price increases in instrumentation, and ultrasonic level meters are influencing international markets. In the current situation, instrumentation enterprises should promptly adjust the product structure for ultrasonic level meters, control investment scale, and reduce non-productive expenses. This is undoubtedly of positive significance.
Furthermore, there is still a gap between China's ultrasonic level meter industry and that of developed countries. Market competition is becoming increasingly fierce, and some markets for ordinary ultrasonic level meters have become saturated, leading to oversupply, which makes it more difficult for small and medium-sized enterprises. Even products with high technological content face intense competition in the international market.
Our ultrasonic level meter manufacturers have long been tested on the battlefield, experiencing many hardships. Since entering the international market ten years ago, they have repeatedly faced setbacks abroad, enduring various difficulties. Despite some small achievements, they still cannot escape the awkward situation of "indigestion" (inability to absorb advanced technology) and "being outmatched by foreign competitors." The key issue is the international standardization strategy.
