What Problems Can Occur in Practical Applications of Open Channel Flow Meters?
Fuzhou Dayu Electronics' ultrasonic open channel flow meter may encounter certain issues during actual application that can affect the reliability, authenticity, and accuracy of the flow meter monitoring data.
1. Improper installation of the ultrasonic open channel flow meter and unstable liquid level in the channel. Some monitoring points are subject to on-site environmental constraints, making it impossible to build an approach channel of sufficient length for flow straightening, resulting in poor flow conditions at the flow meter location that fail to meet the normal operating requirements of an open channel flow meter.
2. Lack of systematic routine maintenance for the ultrasonic open channel flow meter. While the water quality online monitoring equipment installed at the enterprise site can basically perform routine inspections as required by national regulations, the routine inspection content for the ultrasonic open channel flow meter has not been standardized or specified. Some enterprises have not systematically carried out daily inspections of the flow meter monitoring system.
3. Long calibration turnaround time for the ultrasonic open channel flow meter and no backup flow meter available. Some enterprises need to disassemble the flow meter and send it to a metrological verification department for laboratory calibration. The verification process typically takes about 1 to 2 weeks, during which the enterprise has no backup flow meter, resulting in a gap in wastewater flow data and consequently affecting the accuracy of the flow monitoring data.
4. Some enterprises have not carried out verification and calibration of the ultrasonic open channel flow meter. Due to the installation location (e.g., installed in an underground dark channel 7 meters deep) and the lack of qualified metrological institutions in the region, some enterprises have not performed verification or calibration. Others have not conducted official verification but have performed their own in-house calibration procedures to ensure the accuracy of flow data.
