Dayu Electronics: Installation Precautions for Remote-Mount Electromagnetic Flowmeters
Dayu Electronics remote-mount electromagnetic flowmeters are mainly used to measure the volumetric flow of conductive liquids and slurries in closed pipes, including highly corrosive liquids such as acids, alkalis, and salts. This product is widely used in industries such as petroleum, chemical, metallurgy, textile, food, pharmaceutical, and papermaking, as well as in environmental protection, municipal management, and water conservancy construction. So what are the installation precautions for remote-mount electromagnetic flowmeters?
1. Improper operation of the piping layout for the remote-mount electromagnetic flowmeter to prevent negative pressure can cause negative pressure to be generated inside the sensor. If the upstream and downstream valves of the flowmeter are both closed simultaneously, and the fluid temperature is higher than the ambient temperature, cooling will cause contraction, creating a risk of negative pressure inside the pipe. Negative pressure can cause the liner to separate from the metal conduit, leading to electrode leakage.
2. Install a negative-pressure prevention valve near the remote-mount electromagnetic flowmeter; open the valve to connect to atmospheric pressure to prevent negative pressure from forming inside the sensor. If a vertical pipe is connected downstream of the remote-mount electromagnetic flowmeter, and the upstream valve of the flow sensor is used to shut off or regulate the flow, negative pressure will form inside the sensor's measuring tube. To prevent negative pressure, back pressure must be added, or the downstream valve should be used to regulate and shut off the flow.
3. The sensor of the remote-mount electromagnetic flowmeter should be installed vertically, with the fluid flowing from bottom to top, to ensure that the solid and liquid phases remain in a mixed state. This is because if the medium contains solid matter (such as sediment or small gravel particles), sedimentation is likely to occur. In addition, if fish or weeds are present in the pipeline, fish swimming inside the pipe can cause the flowmeter output to fluctuate back and forth; weeds swaying near the electrodes can also cause unstable flowmeter output. A metal filter screen should be installed at the upstream inlet of the flowmeter to prevent fish and weeds from entering the measuring tube.
