The requirement for straight pipe sections is 5D upstream and 3D downstream, ensuring the proper use and accuracy of the sewage flow meter.

The measurement principle of the water flow meter does not depend on flow characteristics. If there is some turbulence or eddies generated in the non-measurement zone (such as elbows, tangential flow limiters, or a half-open globe valve upstream), they do not affect the measurement.

If there is a steady vortex in the measurement zone, it will affect the stability and accuracy of the measurement. In such cases, measures should be taken to stabilize the flow velocity distribution:

1. Increase the length of the upstream and downstream straight pipe sections.

2. Use a flow stabilizer.

3. Reduce the cross-section at the measurement point.
