Differences Between Radar Level Meters and Ultrasonic Level Meters
Dayu Electronics explains the main application differences between ultrasonic level meters and radar level meters:
1. Radar has a much longer detection range than ultrasonic.
2. Radar is relatively more expensive.
3. Ultrasonic accuracy is lower than radar.
4. Radar is available in horn, rod, and cable types, and can be used in more complex working conditions compared to ultrasonic.
5. Ultrasonic cannot be used in vacuum pumps, conditions with high vapor composition, or where there is foam on the liquid surface.
6. For radar, the relative dielectric constant of the substance must be considered.
Ultrasonic uses sound wave frequencies, while radar uses electromagnetic waves—a significant difference. Ultrasonic has greater working capability and specificity than electromagnetic waves, which is why ultrasonic testing is currently more common.
