Dayu Electronics Explains the Working Principle of Open Channel Flow Meters
The open channel flow meter is a new intelligent flow measurement system based on the velocity-water level calculation method, incorporating advanced velocity and water level sensors to ensure accurate flow measurement and computation. Depending on the channel width and measurement accuracy requirements, a single-probe or multi-probe mathematical model is used for open channel flow measurement.
The open channel flow meter operates on open channel technology, measuring the fluid level height and then calculating the flow rate via the internal microprocessor. Since it is a non-contact measurement, the open channel flow meter can operate reliably in harsh environments. Under microprocessor control, the open channel flow meter transmits and receives ultrasonic waves, determining the distance to the measured liquid surface based on the transmission time, thereby obtaining the liquid level height. As there is a proportional relationship between the liquid level and the flow rate, the final liquid flow rate Q can be calculated using the appropriate formula.
