Dayu Electronics: Ultrasonic Level Meters Also Have Limitations
Everything has two sides. Ultrasonic level meters are not omnipotent; they too can be affected by external interference and impact data. Distance measurement, liquid level detection in closed containers, obstacle detection, transparent object detection, automotive anti-collision systems, and medical imaging technology are all scenarios where ultrasonic sensors are showcased.
Ultrasonic level meters, as a non-contact measurement method, are widely used in water treatment, chemical, petroleum, metallurgy, and other industries due to their advantages such as easy installation, reliable performance, low maintenance, and immunity to liquid viscosity and density. However, their limitations should not be overlooked:
1. If the object is very small and cannot reflect enough sound waves back to the ultrasonic sensor, it will affect the measurement of the ultrasonic level meter.
2. Objects covered with soft fabrics absorb more sound waves, making it difficult for the sensor to detect the target.
3. Due to the special shape or position of some objects, the ultrasonic waves reflected from the object may deviate from the measuring instrument.
4. Because ultrasonic sensors need to work with sound, and there is no air to transmit sound in a vacuum, they simply cannot work in a vacuum.
5. Volatile media cannot be measured. If level measurement is required in these environments and application scenarios, extra caution must be taken, and ultrasonic level meters should be chosen carefully.
