High-Frequency Radar Level Meter (High-Frequency Radar Level Transmitter) with Compact Antenna Size and High Accuracy
The radar transmitter is a 26 GHz pulse radar with two-wire loop power supply, completing the radar product line. It is mainly used for continuous level measurement of solids, including high-temperature applications in high-dust conditions. It can be used in various process industries, with a measuring range of 30 m for solid powders and 50 m for solid lumps. Due to harsh on-site conditions, contaminants and moisture may accumulate on the radar antenna over time. The 26 GHz radar has a small antenna, and adding a radome can significantly reduce the impact of contaminants and moisture. In contrast, the 6.3 GHz radar has a lower frequency and larger antenna, making radome installation difficult, and the overall instrument is bulky and hard to clean.
The high-frequency radar level meter is equipped with a newly designed graphical local user interface (LUI), which improves the commissioning process. It allows commissioning and parameter setting without an operation manual, guided only by the quick start wizard. It also displays echo waveforms on the local screen for troubleshooting. The quick start wizard requires only a few simple parameters for basic commissioning.
Using pulse operation, the radar level meter emits extremely low power, making it safe for installation in various metal and non-metal containers without harm to humans or the environment. The high-frequency radar level transmitter uses a 26 GHz signal, enabling the 8260 to use a smaller antenna, achieving a narrower beam angle and increased echo signal strength from the target. It meets intrinsic safety and explosion-proof certification requirements for field use.
The high-frequency radar level meter (mainly 26 GHz) offers advantages such as high energy, narrow beam angle (typically 8° for a Φ95 mm horn antenna, while a 6.3 GHz low-frequency pulse radar with a Φ246 mm horn antenna has a beam angle of only 15°), compact antenna size, and high accuracy.
It can be used for direct measurement of low-dielectric-constant media (without a stilling well) and for level measurement in containers with very small height and diameter.
Main applications of the high-frequency radar level meter: cement powder, plastic pellets/powder, grain, flour, coal, coke, etc. The graphical user interface (LUI) and quick start wizard make operation simple, and the LUI displays echo waveforms for easy diagnostics. The 26 GHz high frequency allows the use of a small horn antenna, which is easy to install in small nozzles.
The high-frequency radar level transmitter supports HART fieldbus communication, and intelligent signal processing improves measurement stability, while automatic false-echo suppression can be enabled.
