Ultrasonic Ranging Sensor, Also Known as Ultrasonic Distance Sensor or Distance Sensor
Ultrasonic ranging sensor, also known as ultrasonic distance sensor or distance sensor, uses sound wave medium to perform non-contact and wear-free detection of the target object. Ultrasonic sensors can detect objects regardless of transparency or color, metal or non-metal, as well as solid, liquid, or powder substances. Environmental conditions such as smoke, dust, or rain have almost no effect on the detection performance of ultrasonic sensors.
Ultrasonic ranging sensor is mainly used in industrial automation to measure the distance value of various objects and equipment, or to output a switching signal after detecting an object. The ultrasonic pulse emitted by the transmitting ultrasonic transducer propagates through the propagation medium to the measured medium, reflects back through the acoustic medium to the receiving transducer, and the time it takes for the ultrasonic pulse to travel from transmission to reception in the acoustic medium is measured. Then, based on the speed of sound in the medium, the distance from the transducer to the medium surface can be calculated, thereby determining the liquid level. Therefore, we can calculate the distance D from the probe to the reflecting surface as D = C*t/2 (divided by 2 because the sound wave actually travels a round trip from transmission to reception; D is the distance, C is the speed of sound, and t is the time).
