Application of Rail Inspection Transducers in Railways
In railway transportation systems, rails support the train and guide the vehicle wheels forward. If a rail fracture occurs, it can lead to major accidents such as train derailment or overturning, causing casualties and huge property losses. Therefore, rail flaw detection has attracted increasing attention. The rail measurement sensors produced by Dayu Electronics, also known as rail flaw detectors, have been widely used in railway departments in recent years.
This technology offers high sensitivity, fast detection speed, and accurate positioning for detecting fatigue cracks and other internal defects in rails. It is a conventional ultrasonic rail inspection method that uses piezoelectric ceramic sensors. Recently, Dayu engineers, at a Tianjin site where they were working on the control system for high-speed rail, used ultrasonic measurement on the switch point rail to determine whether the rail had fractures or cracks.

Currently, ultrasonic testing, as an important non-destructive testing (NDT) technique, not only has fundamental advantages such as strong penetration capability, simple equipment, good usability and safety, and a wide detection range, but its output signals are also presented in waveform form. This allows rapidly developing high-tech methods such as computer signal processing, pattern recognition, and artificial intelligence to be conveniently applied in the inspection process, thereby improving detection accuracy and reliability.
Ultrasonic non-destructive flaw detection is a development and application of ultrasonic NDT. Its equipment includes ultrasonic flaw detectors, probes, couplants, and standard test blocks. Its purpose is to detect defects such as shrinkage cavities in castings, porosity, weld cracks, slag inclusions, lack of fusion, and incomplete penetration, as well as thickness measurement. Ultrasonic NDT has seen significant progress in recent decades and has become a commonly used method in the non-destructive testing of materials or structures. Since ultrasonic testing can be performed online and ultrasonic waves are harmless to humans without altering the system's operating state, it has been widely applied in NDT of materials and structures.
The ultrasonic flaw detector produced by Fuzhou Dayu Electronics, also known as a rail inspection transducer, has been widely recognized and used by customers since its introduction to the market. It offers stable performance, accurate measurement, and is well-received due to its moderate price.

At present, our rail inspection transducers have been installed on at least 600 kilometers of equipment on a 60 km/h slow-speed railway line, and have successfully detected some issues, effectively helping the railway department achieve preventive maintenance. Now, can they also meet the requirements under the high-speed operating conditions of high-speed rail tracks? To answer this, our technical staff visited the Tianjin turnout equipment engineering test center to conduct a rigorous experiment on our rail inspection transducers. The results were exciting. We once again passed a steel-like test! In summary.
