As is well known, when customers use ultrasonic level meters for level measurement, they often encounter flammable and explosive measurement environments, which requires the selection of explosion-proof ultrasonic level meters. However, the selection process involves a certain degree of technical and professional knowledge. Let's analyze this in detail for you:

The explosion-proof ultrasonic level meter is a non-contact, easy-to-install and maintain level measurement instrument, used when measuring crude oil, diesel, cooking oil, or chemical liquid raw materials. It is widely used in explosion-proof environments such as petroleum extraction, chemical industry, oil refining, and pharmaceuticals.

 1. Specific parameters to understand when selecting an explosion-proof ultrasonic level meter are as follows:

      1. The type of medium being measured (liquid or solid, specific name: clean water, sewage, mud, gasoline, diesel, toluene, sulfur dioxide, etc.). If it is a liquid: whether the liquid surface has steam, fog, foam, waves, whether it is stirred, or whether there are floating objects. If it is a solid: whether there is excessive dust.

      2. The minimum to maximum temperature limits of the medium, and the minimum to maximum pressure range.

      3. Corrosiveness of the medium: if placed inside a tank, the tank material should be known, and whether it has an anti-corrosion lining design.

      4. Whether the customer needs corrosion protection and explosion-proof features during use.

      5. The measuring range in meters, and the required size of the blind zone.

      6. Working environment: whether it is an open pool, a covered pool, a horizontal tank, a vertical tank, a spherical tank, whether the tank has atmospheric pressure, and these specific site conditions should be clearly understood.

      7. Working voltage: 24VDC or 220VAC

      8. Output signal: Which output method? For example, 4~20mA current, 485 communication output, relay output.

      9. Device form: choose split type or integral type.

2. Precautions to understand when using the explosion-proof ultrasonic level meter

      1. When using this instrument outdoors, to extend the service life of the equipment, it is best to install a protective box or sunshade to prevent the LCD screen from being directly exposed to sunlight and rain, which may cause premature aging.

      2. When installing cable and wire protection conduits, pay attention to sealing to prevent water accumulation that could damage the circuit parts, and also to prevent line damage caused by rodents or animal bites.

      3. Although the instrument itself is equipped with lightning protection devices, in areas with frequent lightning, we still recommend that customers install additional dedicated lightning protection devices at the input and output terminals of the instrument to ensure protection first.

      4. When the instrument is used in extremely hot or cold places, i.e., when the ambient temperature may exceed the instrument's own operating requirements, it is recommended to add high and low temperature protection devices around the level meter.

      5. The ultrasonic probe should be installed at a perpendicular angle to the measured liquid surface. Within the range of the conical ultrasonic beam emitted, there should be no other obstacles obstructing the transmission of ultrasonic waves, to prevent affecting signal measurement.
