Why Choose an Extended Probe Ultrasonic Level Meter?
When installing and using an ultrasonic level meter, the probe's emitting surface needs sufficient space during detection to avoid unnecessary signal reflections and interference caused by obstacles being too close to the emitting surface. We have specifically developed an extended probe, which is suitable for applications where the mounting bracket is too thick or the tank installation interface is too long.
The extended probe mainly solves two problems: first, it is less susceptible to resonance interference. Second, it more conveniently resolves the issue of the probe being recessed inside a pipe, which can easily cause false measurements.
For example, in the figure below, the customer used an overly thick cement board during installation, and the probe emitting surface of the split ultrasonic level meter (or level meter) was too short to extend into the cement board (Figure01), resulting in inaccurate level measurements due to false echoes. (The correct measurement method is shown in the schematic diagram: Figure02)
Emission angle and false echoes
The ultrasonic beam is focused by the probe, and the pulse beam spreads like the light from a flashlight—the farther from the probe, the larger the diffusion area. Any object within the emission angle, such as pipes, brackets, steel plates, cement boards, welds, stiffeners, stirring propellers, or objects adhering to the wall, can cause strong false echoes, especially objects close to the probe within the emission angle.

Based on such special conditions, our company has specifically developed a new type of ultrasonic level meter with an extended probe, which is at least 4 to 5 centimeters longer than the standard probe size, to facilitate customer use in similar special applications. Fuzhou Dayu Electronics—ultrasonic level meter manufacturer, can customize extended probes of any size according to customer requirements.
The probe threads are M60×2 and G2 threads; new probes are available.
1. Total length including threads: 140mm (standard probe threads: 95.5mm including threads)
2. Non-corrosion-resistant
3. Probe is physically sealed
4. Probe models are -08BA, -12BA
5. Operating frequencies are 49 kHz and 40 kHz
