Dayu Ultrasonic Level Meter Incorrect Installation and Solutions
On August 8, a customer in Shandong called from an integrated sewage pumping station site, saying that the ultrasonic level meter was unable to obtain normal data during operation. After inquiry, our engineer asked the customer to send photos of the site. The customer quickly sent over photos of the product installation at the site. As shown in the figure below:

From the site photos, we can clearly see that the installation method of this level meter is completely incorrect. When installing an ultrasonic level meter, attention must be paid to any objects that may affect measurement:
Beam angle and false echoes
The ultrasonic wave is focused through the transducer, and the pulse wave is emitted like the beam of a flashlight — the farther from the transducer, the larger the spread area.
Any object within the beam angle, such as pipes, supports, welds, stiffeners, stirring propellers, or objects clinging to the wall, can cause strong false echoes, especially objects within the beam angle that are close to the transducer.
From the figure above, it is evident that the support and the grating below are the cause of the measurement data failing to display properly.
The customer's site requires measurement of the full range of 6.7 meters from the ultrasonic level meter transducer to the bottom of the tank.
The specific solutions are as follows:
First, the metal mesh below the transducer must be removed, as it is the main obstacle causing the problem, affecting measurement data and creating false echoes. If safety is a concern, you can also solve this by adding a guide tube that passes through the mesh.
Second, switch to a separate (remote) transducer installed below the metal mesh, provided that the maximum liquid level does not exceed the mesh.
