Equipping Rail Flatcars with "Smart Eyes" — Dayu Electronics' Radar Level Gauge Safety Protection Solution Now in Place
On rail transport lines in factories or mines, the operational safety of flatcars is always a top priority. Especially during vehicle startup or movement, the driver's line of sight has blind spots, and if a person or obstacle appears ahead, the consequences could be disastrous.

Recently, Dayu Electronics addressed this pain point by customizing an automatic area intrusion alarm system for rail flatcars using a radar level gauge. The solution has now been successfully deployed in practical applications.

The logic of this solution is robust and practical:
Leveraging the radar's stable beam angle and immunity to light and dust, we set up a 10 m × 2.5 m "electronic safety zone" in the direction of the flatcar's travel.
Why these dimensions?
Because we aim for "precise warning without false alarms." Considering the flatcar's physical width of about 2.2 m, we set the radar's detection span to 2.5 m. This means that any obstacle within 10 m ahead of the vehicle and in an area slightly wider than the vehicle itself—whether it is an unauthorized person or stacked cargo—will be instantly detected by the radar level gauge, triggering the alarm immediately.

This non-contact detection method perfectly solves the problems of traditional infrared beam sensors being easily blocked and lasers being susceptible to moisture interference. No matter how complex the on-site environment, the radar works like an experienced driver, keeping a close eye on the road ahead.
Safety is no trivial matter—prevention is better than cure. Dayu Electronics is always committed to turning mature sensing technology into tangible production safety safeguards.
