On September 20, the temperature in Fuzhou remained scorching, with the ground surface temperature reaching as high as 34°C. To enhance the stability and reliability of their ultrasonic sensor products, a team of five Dayu Electronics engineers traveled over 100 kilometers from Fuzhou to Cuiping Lake in Gutian to conduct underwater distance measurement and obstacle avoidance tests. They tested their self-developed underwater obstacle avoidance modules, including the "underwater obstacle avoidance ultrasonic sensor" designed for depths of up to 50 meters.
For ultrasonic sensors used in underwater obstacle avoidance, testing in water is a challenging task. After conducting field surveys of over 40 lakes and reservoirs in Fuzhou and surrounding cities, Dayu's engineers found a suitable testing site at Cuiping Lake in Gutian, which offers a water depth of 30 meters and a width of 2,000 meters, thereby resolving the testing site issue.
Underwater ultrasonic sensors are typically used on autonomous mobile equipment such as underwater vehicles and underwater robots. The purpose of ultrasonic obstacle avoidance is to measure the distance to surrounding objects by emitting ultrasonic signals. The mobile equipment then collects distance data from all directions to determine the optimal direction to move. When an underwater vehicle is equipped with an ultrasonic obstacle avoidance sensor, it measures distances to obstacles in six directions—front, back, left, right, up, and down—to perform evasive maneuvers, preventing grounding or collisions, and ensuring the vehicle reaches its designated location without being obstructed or damaged.
This highlights the critical importance of product quality and performance in underwater ultrasonic sensors, particularly in terms of sensitivity and the accuracy of feedback information.
