Ultrasonic Doppler Flow Meter Field Test at Dengyun Reservoir in Fuzhou
On July 20, under the scorching summer sun, engineers from Dayu Electronics in Fuzhou conducted reverse flow velocity tests on the ultrasonic Doppler flow meter at Dengyun Reservoir, and also performed ultrasonic underwater depth measurements; the engineers waded into the water to find better testing positions.
The ultrasonic Doppler flow meter from Dayu Electronics utilizes the ultrasonic Doppler principle to measure water flow velocity, water level depth, and temperature in rivers, streams, open channels, and large pipes. The instrument is suitable for measuring relevant parameters in sewage and wastewater discharge, clean streams, drinking water, and even seawater. It measures both forward and reverse flow conditions and can be programmed to calculate flow rate and total flow in pipes and open channels.
The instrument consists of an ultrasonic transducer assembly (which averages measurements to reduce flow disturbances) and signal processing circuitry. The instrument is placed at or near the bottom of the water body, measuring the water depth from the surface to the instrument. A 12V DC cable connects the instrument to a power source. The ultrasonic Doppler principle is used to measure flow velocity, which requires suspended particles or small bubbles in the water to reflect the ultrasonic signals. Water level is measured via a hydrostatic pressure sensor, and the power/signal cable provides venting, using atmospheric pressure at the water surface as the reference pressure for the hydrostatic sensor.
