Ultrasonic Depth Sounder Paired with UAV: Dayu Products Take the Lead in Flood Prevention
Xinhua News Agency, Fuzhou, April 10 (Reporter Tu Hongchang) To effectively enhance flood control emergency response, especially rescue and disaster relief capabilities, Fujian Province will fully utilize UAVs in flood and typhoon prevention practices starting this year.
It is understood that the Fujian Provincial Finance has allocated over 7 million yuan to equip 50 key counties, the Sixth Detachment of the Armed Police Hydropower Troops, and three provincial-level flood control emergency rescue teams with 57 flood prevention UAVs for tasks such as flood and danger inspection, disaster assessment, remote sensing of mountain torrent disasters, hydropower engineering surveys, and geographic information surveys.
Zheng Guoen, spokesperson for the Fujian Provincial Flood Control Office, stated that currently UAVs can only operate in winds below Force 6 or light rain conditions. However, multiple drills have shown that when transportation and communication are disrupted but weather conditions permit, UAVs can effectively assist in inspecting flood conditions and dangers, buying precious time and initiative for rescue and disaster relief.
Fujian is a region prone to heavy rain, floods, and typhoons. According to analysis and predictions by the Fujian Provincial Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters, this year the main stream of the Min River and its tributaries (Jianxi, Futunxi, Jiaoxi, and Jiulong River North Creek) may experience moderate floods with a return period of about 5 years. Approximately 6 to 7 typhoons are expected to make landfall or affect Fujian.
On April 17, Dayu's ultrasonic depth sounder was mounted on a DJI UAV, successfully implementing this specific operation and contributing to flood prevention efforts.
