Dayu Electronic Ultrasonic Underwater Ranging Sensor for Water Depth Measurement Before and After Sluice Gates
Ultrasonic underwater ranging sensor for water depth measurement before and after sluice gates - application case
1. Project Background
In river channels, reservoirs, irrigation districts, and urban flood control and drainage projects, real-time monitoring of water depth before and after sluice gates is a key link in achieving intelligent sluice scheduling, flood control safety, and rational allocation of water resources. Traditional methods such as manual measurement, float-type water level gauges, and pressure-type water level gauges are susceptible to water flow, debris, sediment, and corrosion, resulting in data lag, high maintenance, and poor stability.
To achieve long-term stable, high-precision, and maintenance-free water depth monitoring, the project adopts Dayu ultrasonic underwater ranging sensors for real-time online measurement of water depth upstream and downstream of the sluice gates.
2. Product Information
· Product Type: Ultrasonic underwater ranging sensor

Housing Material: 304 stainless steel, waterproof, pressure-resistant, corrosion-resistant (ABS or 316 stainless steel optional, depending on site environment)
· Output Signal: RS485 digital output (supports standard Modbus protocol)
Installation: Fix the sensor at the measurement position using a bracket and nuts
· Dual Function: Water depth measurement + underwater obstacle avoidance

3. Application Scenarios
Application Targets: River channel regulating gates, flood control gates, irrigation district distribution gates, pump station gates. Monitoring Content:
· Real-time monitoring of water depth before the gate
· Real-time monitoring of water depth after the gate
· Calculation of water level difference between upstream and downstream
· Underwater obstacle distance monitoring (auxiliary obstacle avoidance protection)
4. Solution
Based on site conditions, the 50m range ultrasonic underwater ranging sensor is deployed at designated positions before and after the sluice gates:
1. 50m large range: Meets the water depth monitoring needs of most river channels, reservoirs, and sluice gates.
2. 304 stainless steel structure: Waterproof, pressure-resistant, resistant to seawater/sewage corrosion, and capable of long-term stable underwater operation.
3. RS485 digital output: Strong anti-interference, long transmission distance, and convenient integration with PLC, RTU, and water conservancy monitoring platforms.
4. Dual-purpose device: Can measure water depth and also serve as an obstacle avoidance sensor for underwater equipment, sluice gates, and ships.
