The measurement accuracy of a Doppler flow meter is directly related to the installation position and method. Incorrect installation can directly lead to data distortion. The following installation guidelines must be strictly followed:
1. Flow field adaptation at the installation location
Select a straight pipe section with a stable flow field. The upstream straight pipe length must be 10-15 times the pipe inner diameter, and the downstream length at least 5 times. Avoid components such as valves, elbows, and reducers that can disrupt the flow field, and avoid measurement errors caused by uneven velocity distribution. Also avoid dead water zones, scaling areas, and the inlet/outlet areas of pumps, compressors, and other equipment, as flow fluctuations in these areas can directly interfere with the acquisition of Doppler signals.

2. Probe installation specifications
The probe must be perpendicular to the inner wall of the pipe to ensure a stable path for ultrasonic transmission and reception. For insertion-type probes, control the insertion depth to ensure that the probe's sensitive area is in the main flow layer of the pipe, not near the boundary layer close to the wall. For clamp-on probes, clean the outer wall of the pipe at the installation location, remove rust and scale, and apply coupling gel to ensure stable acoustic transmission, avoiding signal attenuation due to poor coupling.

3. Environmental and medium adaptation
The installation location must avoid strong electromagnetic interference areas, such as near high-voltage cables and large variable-frequency drives, as electromagnetic interference can affect Doppler signal reception. Also consider the characteristics of the medium. If the medium contains a large amount of bubbles or a high proportion of solid particles, select appropriate probe materials and installation angles to avoid particle wear on the probe or signal blockage by bubbles.

4. Post-installation verification requirements
After installation, on-site verification is required. Compare with reference flow data under the same operating conditions to confirm that the deviation of the measured value is within the allowable range. Also observe the data stability during long-term operation. If abnormal data fluctuations occur, investigate changes in the flow field at the installation location or the probe's contact status.
Doppler Flow Meter installation has no redundant steps; any deviation in detail can directly affect the measurement results. The core principles are stable flow field and stable signal transmission, and installation and verification must be completed accordingly.
