Sediment Monitoring in Agitated Mixing Tanks at a Shanghai Chemical Plant [Dayu Electronics]
I. Date: July 20, 2025
II. Location: A chemical plant in Shanghai
III. Product used: Split-type ultrasonic sludge level meter

Overview: This project involves sediment monitoring in agitated mixing tanks at a chemical plant in Shanghai. The plant has 16 agitated tanks. Different raw materials are stirred upon entering the tanks, and stirring stops once the materials are fully mixed. After the mixture settles completely, it separates from the water and settles at the bottom of the tank. At this point, a sediment layer thickness measurement device is needed to measure and display the exact sediment thickness in real time. When the data reaches a certain thickness threshold, operators discharge the sediment from the bottom (with discharge volume and duration determined based on layer thickness). This alerts relevant personnel to perform the necessary work in a timely manner, thereby improving production efficiency.

Product selection: Based on the on-site survey and the client's requirements, the split-type ultrasonic sludge level meter (with a 304 stainless steel probe housing) manufactured by Fuzhou Dayu Electronics Technology Co., Ltd. was selected for this project. It enables real-time acquisition of the sediment layer thickness in the tank, the distance from the probe to the sediment surface, and the water temperature, with the transmitter displaying the corresponding data.

Note: Based on the on-site tank structure, the probe is installed on the side of the tank. The area below the probe's emission angle must be free of any obstructions, and the installation must avoid mixing blades and internal structural components. The probe must be installed and secured at a position below the minimum water level.
