Project Overview: This project, conducted in January 2024, focused on monitoring the industrial wastewater discharge flow at a hospital in Mianyang City, Sichuan Province. The main objectives were to enable the hospital to control and effectively manage the total industrial wastewater flow, prevent excessive discharge, and meet environmental protection requirements. The industrial wastewater flow at the hospital was monitored, with data transmitted to the local environmental protection management platform, allowing real-time monitoring of discharge conditions, understanding of discharge during each time period, and timely preparation of corresponding work and reports.
Product Selection: According to the requirements of the local environmental protection department and the actual site conditions, an ultrasonic open channel flowmeter + Parshall flume, manufactured by Fuzhou Dayu Electronics Technology Co., Ltd., was selected to achieve measurement of instantaneous flow and cumulative flow at the front end of the site.
Rectification Recommendations: During installation in January 2024, the equipment measured accurately and normally. One year later, the instrument gradually showed liquid level fluctuation (data reading too high). After on-site troubleshooting, it was determined that the inner wall of the Parshall flume (bracket inner wall) had corroded, with rust and other attachments present within the sensor's emission angle, causing measurement errors. It was recommended to either lower the 400mm-high bracket to 200mm or vertically lower the probe by 150–200mm. On-site personnel found that the bracket screws could not be loosened, so they found an alternative solution by lowering the probe by 200mm and re-configuring the settings, which resolved the issue.
