New Breakthrough in Marine Technology! Student Dong's Fish Counter Project Leads Innovation Trend [DAYU Electronics]
Supporting Scientific Innovation, Exploring New Fish Counter Technology with Student Dong from Zhejiang Ocean University
On the campus of Zhejiang Ocean University, Student Dong, driven by a passion for marine technology, aims to develop a fish counter that meets scientific research needs. However, with limited understanding of fish counter technology and existing commercial products failing to meet experimental requirements, Dong's development journey is full of challenges.

We learned that the fish counter Dong needs must not only accurately count fish larger than 10 cm but also measure water depth and temperature. While existing cage fish counters can partially meet counting needs, they are limited in functionality, unable to measure both depth and temperature simultaneously, and require stringent operating conditions, making them inadequate for the diversity and complexity of scientific experiments.

To address Dong's requirements, we recommended a cage fish counter suitable for secondary development as a starting point. However, considering its numerous limitations, we guided Dong toward independent development using a development board and transducer. By setting up reflection experiments at different distances and simulating tests with various objects in water, Dong can gradually master ultrasonic technology application, laying a solid foundation for subsequent tests with real fish.
This development approach not only meets Dong's experimental needs but also offers relatively low costs, helping reduce research expenses. Under our guidance, Dong discussed with the advisor and decided to first purchase a development board and probe for testing. We provided detailed usage instructions and shared our valuable experience in developing fish counters, enabling Dong to quickly get started and successfully obtain ultrasonic echo data.

This collaboration not only demonstrates our support for scientific innovation but also reflects our commitment to working hand-in-hand with university students to explore new technologies. We believe that with Dong's efforts, a fully functional and high-performance fish counter will soon be developed, contributing new strength to the advancement of marine fishery technology.
