Level Measurement in Industrial Production: Externally Mounted Sensors [Dayu Electronics]
I. Background Introduction
With the rapid development of industrial production in China, the importance of tank level measurement in industries such as petroleum, chemical, and pharmaceutical is increasingly prominent. Traditional level measurement methods have certain limitations, such as being affected by medium, temperature, pressure, and other factors, leading to reduced measurement accuracy. To address this issue, externally mounted level sensors have gradually become the preferred solution for tank level measurement due to their easy installation, high measurement accuracy, and convenient maintenance.
II. Project Overview
Project Name: Level measurement project for a 1m inner diameter, 7mm wall thickness 304 stainless steel tank at a certain enterprise
Project Location: Chengdu City, Sichuan Province
Project Background: The enterprise's existing tank level measurement had issues such as large measurement errors and difficult maintenance, seriously affecting production efficiency and product quality. To improve level measurement accuracy and reduce maintenance costs, the enterprise decided to adopt externally mounted level sensors for renovation.
III. Solution Design
Sensor Selection: Based on the tank parameters (1m inner diameter, 7mm wall thickness), the M33-GYQ externally mounted level sensor from our company was selected. Installation Plan: One externally mounted level sensor is installed at the bottom of the tank. During installation, petroleum jelly is used as a coupling agent to eliminate air gaps that could block sound waves.
Installation Process: During the project implementation, on-site engineers strictly followed the installation specifications to ensure the sensors were securely installed and signal transmission was stable.
IV. Implementation Results:
(1) Improved Measurement Accuracy: After adopting the externally mounted level sensors, the level measurement error was reduced to ±1mm, meeting the enterprise's production requirements.
(2) Convenient Maintenance: The externally mounted level sensors do not need to enter the tank interior, reducing maintenance difficulty and safety hazards.
(3) Strong Anti-Interference Capability: The externally mounted level sensors are made of special materials, offering good corrosion resistance and anti-interference performance, suitable for various harsh environments.
