Dayu Electronics M80 Echo Sounder Successfully Meets the Challenge of 20 kg/m³ High Sediment Concentration
In hydrological monitoring, obtaining accurate data in complex underwater environments has always been a key focus. Recently, our technical team at Dayu Electronics assisted a hydrological station in solving a challenging problem, which we would like to share with you.

Hydrological monitoring demands higher precision and stability in data collection. Dayu Electronics provided a professional depth measurement solution for this hydrological station: mounting the M80 echo sounder on an ADCP (Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler) to cope with the complex water environment with sediment concentration up to 20 kg/m³.

The M80 echo sounder's 200 kHz operating frequency, combined with optimized signal processing algorithms, gives the M80 exceptional water penetration capability, effectively overcoming signal scattering caused by high sediment concentration and ensuring clear, stable riverbed echoes even in turbid water. Furthermore, this model is designed for large measurement ranges, offering strong depth measurement capability and perfect compatibility with ADCP systems, enabling synchronized and accurate collection of flow velocity and water level data, greatly improving the efficiency of hydrological survey.

Moreover, it is rugged and durable, suitable for field operations. The housing is made of corrosion-resistant aluminum alloy or high-strength plastic (selectable based on requirements), with an IP68 protection rating, allowing long-term submersion in water. The transducer surface is coated with an anti-fouling layer to reduce the impact of sediment adhesion on measurements.
Installation requirements:
1. During installation, ensure the transducer emitting surface is parallel to the water surface to avoid air bubble attachment.
2. It is recommended to regularly clean the transducer surface to prevent dried mud buildup.
3. In cases of extreme high sediment concentration (exceeding 30 kg/m³), contact the technical team to adjust gain parameters.

Every precise underwater detection is a strong safeguard for the safety of rivers. From tackling the technical challenges of high sediment water to seamless collaboration with ADCP systems, the Dayu Electronics M80 echo sounder is empowering hydrological monitoring with robust capabilities and intelligent innovation.
Facing increasingly complex water conservancy application scenarios, Dayu Electronics will continue to deepen its expertise in acoustic sensing, delivering higher-quality products and more comprehensive solutions to help hydrological stations achieve all-weather, high-precision, and multi-dimensional perception, making every piece of data a solid foundation for scientific decision-making.
