Dayu Electronics M80 Underwater Ranging and Obstacle Avoidance Sensor Enables Precise Distance Measurement for Dredging Robots

Overview: This case involves obstacle avoidance testing for a dredging robot in a sludge sedimentation tank. The sensor effectively measures the distances from the front, rear, left, and right sides of the underwater dredging robot to the tank walls, enabling advance collision prevention. When operators remotely control the underwater dredging robot, they can more clearly understand the robot's position and its distance from the tank walls, improving the dredging speed and protection measures of the underwater robot.
On-site and customer requirements: The underwater dredging robot operates in a 10m*20m sludge sedimentation tank. Underwater ranging sensors are installed on the top of the robot in four directions (front, rear, left, and right) to achieve ranging and obstacle avoidance during operation (as shown in the figure). Each sensor must have a range of at least 10 meters and a blind zone of less than 0.6 meters, and must be able to measure the distance from the robot to the tank edge. The main cable is routed to the shore to connect to a handheld display unit or a computer host computer, displaying the distance values in four directions and the underwater temperature.
Product selection: Based on the above, after communication with the customer and our technical team, the selected product is a split underwater obstacle avoidance sensor (10-beam circuit board) custom-made by Fuzhou Dayu Electronics Technology Co., Ltd. It connects to 4 transducers (quick-connect to the circuit board, 200KHz transducers, each with a 1.5-meter cable). The circuit board is integrated into the underwater robot with waterproof encapsulation. It is equipped with a 50-meter cable that is waterproofed where it exits the top of the robot, with a quick-connect connector at the other end for the handheld display host or computer host software to display the front, rear, left, and right distance values and underwater temperature.
