Engineering Application of M30 Sensor in Online Detection of Wood Board Bulges [Dayu Electronics]
Bulges, delamination, and debonding in wood boards are typical defects in engineered wood and solid wood processing. Traditional manual sampling inspection suffers from low efficiency, high miss rates, and poor consistency. The M30 industrial sensor, with its standardized mounting, high stability, and wide environmental adaptability, has become the mainstream solution for online non-destructive testing of panels, reliably enabling non-contact, high-speed, and accurate bulge detection to support production line automation and quality control.

M30 Sensor operates on the through-beam ultrasonic/laser ranging principle and features a standard M30 threaded housing for easy modular deployment on production lines. When normal panels pass through, the acoustic/optical beam is uniformly attenuated by the medium, and the received signal remains within the threshold. When bulges or voids appear, the internal air layer causes a sudden change in transmittance and an abnormal rise in signal amplitude, rapidly triggering a defect alarm. Combined with adaptive signal gain and temperature compensation algorithms, the sensor suppresses interference from dust, humidity, and vibration, delivering fast response and high repeatability, making it suitable for continuous high-speed production lines.

This solution features easy installation without modifying the line and no risk of damage: the M30 standard dimensions are compatible with universal brackets, and the through-beam layout saves additional space. Non-contact detection avoids scratching the board surface and does not affect the conveying cycle. The all-metal housing provides IP67 protection, resisting oil contamination and dust for long-term stable operation. It can be linked with sorting mechanisms to automatically separate qualified and defective products, replacing manual inspection and reducing miss rates and labor costs.

Compared with non-standard detection devices, the M30 sensor excels in versatility, reliability, and maintainability: standardized interfaces allow easy connection to PLCs and production management systems, supporting remote data transmission and statistical analysis. With no wearing parts, maintenance costs are low.
In intelligent panel manufacturing, the M30 bulge sensor, with its stable, accurate, and efficient performance, upgrades inspection from offline sampling to online full inspection, effectively improving factory pass rates and reducing after-sales complaints, providing reliable automated inspection support for quality upgrades in wood processing.
