Cost-Effective M26 Hydrophone Variant for Sewage Tank Underwater Robots from Dayu Electronics
In the R&D and manufacturing of underwater inspection robots for sewage tanks, the performance of the hydrophone directly affects the device's acoustic perception accuracy in underwater environments. In response to specific requirements and budget considerations recently raised by some customers, we have made targeted cost-reduction optimizations to our mature product, the Dayu Electronics M26 Hydrophone, while maintaining core performance.

Core Customer Requirements
The customer provided a detailed specification list:
? Frequency response: 20 Hz – 20 kHz
? Sensitivity: ≥ -180 dB re 1V/μPa
? Directivity: Omnidirectional
? Operating depth: ≤ 20 meters
? Operating temperature: 0 – 40°C
? Output: Analog signal, preferably with built-in preamplifier
? Housing: Corrosion-resistant, suitable for prolonged sewage immersion
? Consistency: Frequency response and sensitivity variation within ±1 dB per batch

The original M26 hydrophone already met the core specifications of 20 Hz-20 kHz frequency response, ≥ -180 dB re 1V/μPa sensitivity, and omnidirectional directivity; only the batch consistency (±3 dB) was slightly higher than the customer's required ±1 dB. Considering the customer's budget constraints and actual working conditions, we proposed three optimizations:
1. Depth adaptation: Precisely designed pressure-resistant structure for 20 meters working depth, avoiding excessive redundancy;
2. Redundancy removal: Removed built-in preamplifier (customer's device can integrate an external amplification module);
3. Housing optimization: Adopted a plastic housing, with only the front-end sensitive element in contact with sewage, while the rest is concealed inside the robot, meeting corrosion protection requirements while reducing waterproofing process costs.

The optimized solution fully covers the customer's application scenarios: at operating temperatures of 0-40°C, stable analog signal output at depths up to 20 meters; the plastic housing's sewage corrosion resistance has been verified in laboratory tests; batch frequency response and sensitivity variation are controlled within ±3 dB (compliant with industry standards). This adjustment reduces overall cost by approximately 25%, making it particularly suitable for large-scale deployment in municipal sewage tank inspection projects.
