Application of Dayu Electronic Ultrasonic M18 Distance Sensor in Limit Plate Monitoring
In various types of machinery and automation equipment, the positional displacement of the limit plate is a key indicator for determining whether moving parts have reached their position or whether the travel exceeds the limit. Traditional contact displacement sensors are prone to wear and require regular calibration, while ultrasonic non-contact distance measurement technology, with its advantages of no wear, fast response, and flexible installation, is becoming an ideal choice for displacement monitoring. Recently, in response to a customer's specific requirement for measuring the displacement of a limit plate, our company provided a ultrasonic M18 distance sensor solution, achieving stable and high-precision displacement measurement.

At the customer's site, real-time monitoring of the position changes of the limit plate is required. A reflective plate is installed on the limit plate, and the sensor is fixed on the lower bracket, vertically facing the reflective plate. During operation, the sensor emits ultrasonic pulses, which are reflected by the plate, and the distance value is measured. When the limit plate undergoes displacement, the measured distance changes linearly, thereby accurately reflecting the amount of displacement. The installation space for the sensor is limited, requiring a compact size and reliable connection, and the measurement process needs to operate continuously for long periods.
To meet the customer's requirements, our company selected the M18 ultrasonic distance sensor. This series of sensors has a measurement range covering 50mm to 1000mm, and the actual measurement distance is set to 300mm, which is well within the optimal operating range. The measurement accuracy can reach within ±0.5% of the measured value, and with our unique linear compensation algorithm, near-zero error measurement can be achieved, ensuring precise capture of small displacement changes.

In terms of installation and maintenance, this product adopts an M18×1 stainless steel threaded connection, allowing direct screwing into the matching bracket for quick and convenient installation. The stainless steel material offers good corrosion resistance and vibration resistance. The sensor and cable are connected via an aviation plug design, supporting quick plugging and unplugging, so when the sensor needs to be replaced on-site, there is no need to rewire, significantly reducing downtime and maintenance costs. In addition, the product provides multiple output signals, including analog (4-20mA/0-10V), switching (NPN/PNP), and digital (RS485), for seamless integration with various PLCs or data acquisition systems.

In actual operation, this sensor can work continuously for long periods without mechanical wear, providing a long service life. The reflective plate combined with the vertical installation method effectively enhances the stability of the echo signal, ensuring reliable measurement even in dusty or slightly vibrating environments. Customer feedback indicates that after installation and commissioning, the sensor data is stable and highly consistent with the actual displacement of the limit plate, providing real, real-time, and stable data support for equipment travel control and fault warning.
