In channels, pumping stations, or wastewater treatment scenarios, the level difference is a core control parameter. However, many users' first reaction upon receiving the equipment is often worry about a troublesome installation—Do we need to build a dedicated protective well? Will the probe be damaged by rain? Does the main unit require an additional rainproof metal box?
The answer is: none of that hassle is necessary.
The Dayu Electronics ultrasonic level difference meter features a split-body structural design that separates the "water-sensitive" components from the "rugged" ones.
The main unit houses all control circuits, display, and output modules, which do require basic protection. The standard practice is to install it in an existing instrument cabinet, control box, or on an indoor wall, utilizing existing infrastructure for protection without needing a specially customized enclosure. Its role is the "brain," so it just needs to be placed in a dry, easily visible location.
The component that directly contacts the field environment is the probe. For outdoor conditions, we have achieved an IP68 protection rating for the probe itself—the highest level of waterproof and dustproof protection, meaning it can be submerged in water for extended periods or withstand continuous heavy rain without any adverse effects. Consequently, the probe can be installed directly in the open air without requiring any rain shields, protective boxes, or additional structural safeguards.
The installation options are highly flexible: if there's an existing instrument box or a nearby power distribution cabinet on site, the main unit can be directly mounted inside. If such conditions aren't available, installing the main unit in a nearby waterproof junction box is equally viable. The probe connects to the main unit via a dedicated cable, supporting transmission distances of up to several hundred meters. This means you can place the main unit in the most convenient location for viewing and maintenance, while the probe remains stably submerged or fixed above the channel.
In summary: just put the main unit in an instrument box, and the IP68-rated probe can handle the rest of the outdoor elements on its own. This process eliminates complicated steps like welding additional brackets or wrapping waterproofing layers, saving both material costs and installation labor.
