How Should the GRCF River Flow Meter Be Installed to Withstand Flood Impacts During the Flood Season?
River flow meters are mainly installed on rivers to measure flow. Since the cross-sections of most rivers are naturally formed, installation requires careful consideration.
1. The mounting bracket must conform to the terrain of the riverbank slope.
The river flow meter consists of an ultrasonic Doppler velocity meter sensor and a main unit, connected by a cable. The ultrasonic Doppler velocity meter sensor must be installed in the water and, during normal years, should not emerge above the water surface.

2. Ensure that it will not be washed away or carried off by floodwaters during the flood season.
The flow velocity of river water during the flood season can be3-10 times higher than normal. At high flow velocities, the impact on the mounting bracket is immense. Therefore, in natural rivers, piles need to be driven into the riverbed to secure the bracket.
3. The sensor must meet measurement requirements.
1. The sensor should face directly into the direction of water flow.
2. It should be located in a stable flow area.
3. No obstacles to water flow may exist within 10 meters directly in front of the sensor, and none within 5 meters directly behind it. The actual installation bracket diagram is as follows:

The river flow meter has been used on-site multiple times, and the mounting bracket has been modified accordingly. This time, the mounting bracket at the Zhangxi River site in Ningbo withstood the impact of floodwaters during the flood season.
