Please introduce yourself to the audience and your main responsibilities.
Hello, everyone! I graduated from Xiamen University in 2002 with a degree in Physics from the Department of Oceanography. From 2002 to 2005, I worked on software and hardware for consumer electronics at a listed company in Shenzhen. In 2005, I had the opportunity to come to Fuzhou and was first exposed to ultrasonic level meters. That was when I realized the huge gap between China's ultrasonic industrial instruments and foreign ultrasonic products. At that time, Chinese ultrasonic level meters accounted for only 5% of the global market share! The annual sales volume of ultrasonic level meters from multiple domestic manufacturers was less than 10,000 units. At that moment, I made up my mind to build China's own ultrasonic brand! Since 2005, I have been dedicated to the R&D and production of ultrasonic industrial instrument products. After more than ten years, we have now achieved an annual sales volume of 20,000 ultrasonic level meters, surpassing the total sales of all Chinese ultrasonic level meter brands in 2005.
Currently, we have not only made breakthroughs in ultrasonic level meters but have also expanded into a wide range of ultrasonic-related products, with increasing variety! Examples include ultrasonic open-channel flow meters, ultrasonic Doppler flow meters, ultrasonic sludge level meters, ultrasonic gas flow transducers, ultrasonic anemometer transducers, ultrasonic distance meters, and double-sheet sensors, among others. Our product line is becoming more comprehensive, and we now have nearly 3,000 product models.

Mr. Shangguan, you have recognized—indeed, you saw—the pain point in the ultrasonic industry. So, you decided to create an excellent domestic brand for China in the ultrasonic field, didn't you?
Yes.
We now have nearly 3,000 ultrasonic product models. What are the main application areas of these products?
There are mainly three categories. The first is industrial instruments, such as ultrasonic level meters and ultrasonic level gauges, which are mainly used in steel, chemical, power, water supply, and wastewater environments. There are also ultrasonic Doppler flow meters, open-channel flow meters, and Doppler velocity meters—products used for measuring water flow. In recent years, they have been applied in IoT applications, smart city projects, sewer water level monitoring, and sensor systems for water pricing reforms, as well as in water conservancy and farmland irrigation projects. In these systems, the required sensors are making their way to a broader market.
Actually, the path of R&D is a long and winding road because everyone is making progress, and the market is constantly changing. We need to adapt to the market, make continuous changes to keep up.

Well, you come from a technical background! From your academic studies and research at university to now dedicating yourself to this ultrasonic industry, what do you consider the biggest reward and growth from this career?
The greatest reward, I think, is the joy of helping many domestic enterprises solve real-world problems.
For example, take our ultrasonic gas flow meter sensors. To this day, no company in China has truly achieved mass production of them—why? Because these sensors mainly come from Germany, and one sensor costs 25,000 RMB. A single meter requires at least six sensors, and such meters sell for at least 200,000 RMB on the market. Importing the sensors is not only unrealistic—they won't even sell them to you! So, after nearly ten years of effort, we have overcome this technology! Now, several domestic companies are already in mass production, and we supply them with these sensors for less than 1,000 RMB each. This has solved their practical difficulties, replacing imported raw materials with high-quality domestic alternatives, and greatly helping customers save substantial costs! This is what I feel most fortunate about.
Indeed, what you are doing today is very valuable! It's not just about how much money you make, but how much strength we actually contribute to the nation's development.
Yes, that's right! My philosophy has always been to do things well! And in the process, solve my own livelihood issues.
