ADCP River Flow Meter Tested in Inland Waterway
On June 28, Dayu Electronics engineers conducted measurement tests of a single-beam Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler in an inland river within the Jinshan Juyuanzhou Industrial Zone in Fuzhou.
The single-beam Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler is also known as an ADCP river flow meter. During measurement, it automatically divides the water column into layers and sets layer thickness based on the actual water level, measures the flow velocity of each profile layer, and calculates the cross-sectional area using a cross-section model to derive the flow rate.
The device measures flow velocity based on the ultrasonic Doppler effect. It emits an ultrasonic pulse into the water and receives reflected echo signals from particles and bubbles in the water. The velocity change is calculated from the frequency shift of the echo signals, and the velocity stratification is determined by the time sequence of the echoes. Water level is measured via a pressure sensor, and water temperature via a temperature sensor.
This single-beam Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler is typically installed on the riverbed, allowing remote measurement of flow velocities at various depths by emitting ultrasonic pulses. It also outputs date and time (year, month, day, hour, minute, second), roll angle, pitch angle, and temperature values, facilitating corrections to obtain accurate flow velocities.
