ADCP Single-Beam Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler, Huai River Water Resources Commission Follow-up Visit
At the end of August 2017, the ADCP single-beam acoustic Doppler current profiler produced by our company was initially tested at the Huai River Water Resources Commission, and the performance was satisfactory. Recently, Engineer Liu and Engineer Fan from Fuzhou Dayu Electronics visited the Huai River Water Resources Commission again to check the operating condition of the ADCP single-beam acoustic Doppler current profiler. After a series of tests and observations, the results were very reasonable.

Principle of the single-beam acoustic Doppler current profiler: When the ultrasonic sound source and the observer are inrelative motion, the frequency received by the observer will differ from the frequency of the ultrasonic sound source. Therefore, small particles and small bubbles moving with the water relative to the ultrasonic transducer will also cause a change in the frequency received by the transducer, and this change increases with thevelocity of the suspendedmotion in the water. From this, theDoppler shiftis measured, and thus the water flow velocity is determined.
It is mainly used in irrigation open channels, municipal sewage pipes, hydrological basins, and other applications, especially suitable for water depths from more than 0.5 meters to several meters deep. In regular pipes and channels, the water depth is measured by the pressure sensor on the current meter, and the flow velocity at each layer is measured by the ultrasonic sensor. Then, using the background calculation software, the flow rate can be conveniently calculated.

The product measures flow velocity based on the ultrasonic Doppler effect principle. It emits an ultrasonic pulse into the water, receives the reflected echo signals from particles and bubbles in the water, calculates the velocity change based on the frequency change of the echo signal, and determines the velocity profile based on the time sequence of the echo signals. It can also measure water level using the pressure sensor and water temperature using the temperature sensor.
This single-beam acoustic Doppler current profiler is generally installed on the bottom. In this way, by emitting ultrasonic pulses, it can remotely measure the flow velocity at each layer of the water body. At the same time, it can output the date and time of the test (year, month, day, hour, minute, second), roll angle, pitch angle, and temperature value, which facilitates correction to obtain the accurate flow velocity.
The housing is made of POM plastic (scientific name: polyacetal, a crystalline thermoplastic plastic), with a distinct melting point of 165-175°C. Its properties are closest to metal, and it is commonly called plastic steel. It adopts a deep-sea pressure-resistant design, providing effective waterproof sealing.
