However, achieving this capability is not as simple as just extending the distance. When the river width reaches 500 meters, calculated based on the standard 45° installation angle, the actual acoustic signal path between the two transducers extends as long as 707 meters. Such an extremely long propagation path imposes three rigorous challenges on the equipment.

First, the transducers must be “powerful enough”.
Conventional low-frequency transducers suffer severe signal attenuation over long distances and cannot penetrate a wide river. We specifically select ultrasonic transducers with a frequency of 30-35 kHz, a band that achieves the optimal balance between acoustic energy and attenuation in water, ensuring the signal can reliably reach the opposite bank.
Second, the circuit system must be “robust enough”.
A transmission distance of 707 meters means the transmitted signal must be strong, while the received echo is extremely weak and mixed with substantial water and environmental noise. This places extremely high demands on the dynamic range and signal-to-noise ratio of the transmit driver circuit, the receive amplifier circuit, and the filter. Our circuit design has undergone multiple iterations to precisely capture valid echoes amid strong interference, ensuring stable operation of the entire system.
Finally, the algorithm must be “clever enough”.
Over extremely long distances, the ultrasonic waveform may become distorted, widened, or even broken. If the software algorithm cannot correctly identify the characteristics of the deformed signal, even the strongest hardware is useless. Our self-developed intelligent recognition algorithm has been specifically trained and optimized for long-distance distorted waveforms, allowing it to accurately lock onto the first arrival time of the wave, thereby ensuring the accuracy of flow velocity calculations.

500 meters is not the end of the distance, but the touchstone of technical strength.
