Recently, some customers have reported 485 communication abnormalities—some devices that were previously operating normally suddenly lost connection, while others that were newly installed have never been able to communicate. If the device has been communicating normally via 485 and suddenly experiences a communication interruption, it is recommended to first check external connections and hardware status.
1. Check the connection cables: First, inspect the 485 communication cable for damage, wear, or pinching. Sometimes the on-site environment is complex, and cables may be chewed by rodents or internally broken due to accidental pulling during construction. In addition, loose terminals or oxidation causing poor contact are also common causes—try re-plugging and tightening the connectors.
2.Check for module faults: If the cables are intact, consider whether the 485 communication module inside the flowmeter is damaged. Lightning strikes, voltage fluctuations, or aging due to long-term operation can cause the module to fail. In such cases, professional technical personnel are usually needed to inspect or replace the module.

If the device is newly installed and has never been able to communicate, the problem is most likely a configuration issue with the host computer software. The 485 communication of the ultrasonic open-channel flowmeter must strictly adhere to the device protocol, including parameters such as baud rate, data bits, stop bits, parity, and device address. If the host computer software does not correctly parse these according to the protocol, communication cannot be established even if the hardware connection is normal. It is recommended to compare the device manual and verify that the communication parameters of the host computer match those of the flowmeter, ensuring the protocol interpretation is correct before conducting a test, to avoid communication failure due to parameter mismatch.
